K Through the Window Glass

K, this is one of your favorite places to stand.  You love to be outside.
T, made you laugh when he came to join you.
I love the chocolate on your face and your hand prints on the glass and your excitement about anything happening outside.

$5 Thrift Store Redo

I found this cabinet at the the thrift store for five smackaroonies.  Immediately I thought of the shoes that we have stinking up the front closet and how this beauty may do the trick.  I could try painting my first piece of furniture in the last eight years.

I think it actually looked nicer in the photo.

I couldn't get that screw in the top left corner out without damaging the piece.  So I attempted to paint around it (it wasn't that pretty so I didn't add it).

I watched some YouTube videos on how to sand down furniture. There wasn't that much from what I could find.  Maybe I'll check it out some more, because I have a hutch that I will painting white (hopefully) in the near future.

I gave this beaut a couple of coats of Benjamin Moore Coventry Gray (a sample paint I was thinking about for the wall--just a tiny bit darker than what I have painted on the wall).

You helped me by cheering me on and by helping K be cheerful. Thank you for your help!

Backyard Fun With Friends

Oregon, this summer, has not had very much rain.  It seems that most of the yards in the area just let the grass die.  You see how dead ours looks--well, this was right before school started.
Though it is not pictured our grass has started to turn green.

It was so great to see our friends.

It was so fun!! Thank you for coming Erika, B and A!

Linn Lanes Bowling

Before school started we went to Linn Lanes to go bowling.  We met my good friend, Sheri, at Home Depot, two or three days after we moved in.  I was ecstatic because we were friends when I was expecting you, R.
She is definitely one of the nicest people I have met.  She is so kind to everyone!
It was so nice to bowl here because there wasn't distracting televisions or loud music, it was just us bowling.  Sheri and I could talk.  I loved it!
Oh my heavens, her boys are so cute!
The little ones, as usual, loved to stay by the bowling ball return.

You helped K many times, S, bowl the ball down the lane.

You and Sheri's kidlets loved playing up with the machines up on the landing (it was an area above the lanes where people can wear normal shoes and eat food which you did because we forgot to eat lunch before we left the house.

 T, your traditional pose.

So glad we could meet up with Sheri and her kids.
Thanks for telling us about it, Sheri! We'll be going again soon.

Hobbit Fan Contest

If you want to know why I haven't been posting for awhile, it is because I have been working very hard on this little movie.  It said I could have no third parties in it, otherwise you would have been in it.

Also, for the record, I did not choose the cover of the video.  I look a bit crazy. Oh well. It was really fun to make.  You were all champions and dearly supportive!

The prize of the contest is a trip to New Zealand to meet Sir. Peter Jackson and to see the filming sites (and hopefully learn a lot more about filming).

The accents were 1. Staten Island, 2. Dwarvish 3. Elf 4. Staten Island.

I performed all of the work, all the voices are mine. The poetry/song is my original work.

This is me filming while you kidlets were at school, except K, you were sleeping. Did you catch how the microphone was suspended?  I used a chair.  Yep, I was a one man band until you got home and helped me.  I am filming a little bit for the hobbit fan contest, so me and my friend can go (relatively for free) to New Zealand and see Middle-earth with none other than Peter Jackson.
Me in my hobbit attire. I'll try to get a photo of my hobbit feet tomorrow.
This is my shire.  Isn't it beautiful? Our bishop and his dear wife, Kari let me use their land for the shire.
Now you know why my blogging has been so sporadic.

Now to editing. . .

The Quarter--aka my first short

You know how I was so excited and making a movie about my grandfather? What? Did I not tell you?  Well, it is a work in progress and as excited as I was about premiering it with my Grandpa, I have lost a little steam on it and I have to re-download all the software and edit what I have done--I have some good ideas to make it better.  But in case you were wondering, here it is. . .thus far.  Trust me when I say this, I know I have a long way to go to make it look professional, but a person has to start somewhere, right?

We filmed it in May--which seems forever ago.  I am going to be adding some details.  The boy you played, T, is my Grandpa C.  S, you played his older sister.  Erika played his old neighbor.

I learned a few things that I hope will help me in the future.

Do you remember the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC?  A couple of times we took the bus there.  This was probably our favorite exhibit.  I like that we look like "Charge!"
Miss you, New Yorkers!

New Carpet

We stored our beds and couch in the empty dining room.
Step 1:  They got rid of the carpet in about an hour--I was amazed at how quick they were at that.  I wrote the date and a scripture on the floor--Doctrine and Covenants 109:8.
Step 2: They glued on the matting.  It was around this time that K, you and I were out in the yard and you got stung by a bee. You cried for all of five minutes, except for when Dad called then you wailed.  We went and got some benadryl just in case of an allergic reaction.
Then they put the carpet on top.  I forgot to get a completed after--it's coming.

Before upstairs.

After: Upstairs.
Don't you love it? I love the paint and Daddy was so wonderful to help me paint all day Saturday and at night on Friday.
It is starting to feel like our home.  It makes me feel so happy.
