Bucket List Thing Done

Ever since I heard about these blow-dry bars. I have wanted to go, so I added it to my bucket list in my head.  There are no food or drinks (of any sort). What happens is your stylist will wash, condition, dry and style your hair. I had a Groupon for it.

There are only two of them in the Portland area, at the Bridgeport Mall and in the Pearl District of downtown Portland.

My stylist was so friendly and kind.  Ask for Kiera, she's young (right now she has fun pink hair) and dearly bubbly.  She says she can do all sorts of hairstyles from almost any time period.  She was even able to give me some of the facts about Egyptian hair-dos back in the day (you know waaaay back in the day).

When you do the Groupon they give you a list of 4-8 hair styles they will do for you. You choose one and they do it.  I feel like I learned a lot getting one I was not too familiar with and you all said that you loved it!

I felt so pretty walking out of there!  K said that it will last between 3-5 days, but I can wash it whenever I want to, of course.

It gave me a great lift for the day.  I enjoyed a little pampering time.  You were with Daddy.  Love ya!

After a week of lessons as a reward you got some great sunglasses.
 Your friends, B got mustaches.
You made some great progress! So proud of you!

Sky High Sports

To celebrate your birthday, R, we went to Sky High Sports.  It is a place filled with trampolines.

 You had a great time.
Afterward we went and got some yummy food from Olive Garden that you like and went home to eat it.  You also had swimming lessons in the morning and a play date earlier.  You told me it was your best birthday ever.

Balloon Festival

Last Friday we went to the Tigard, Oregon Balloon Festival.  We had all been working a lot getting the house clean and doing yard work because our landlord was coming to do some things at our house.  So we decided to splurge a bit and go and do some rides at the balloon festival.  You chose this one, S.

You, T and R chose the bumper cars.
R starting his bumper car.  You two were so excited.
See R looking up at the ceiling?
Can you see T?
We saw one balloon inflated.  I think there were 22 more that glowed at night and cheered up the skies in the morning between 5-7. Sadly, we missed that part.
K, you slept for the first part.  Then you and I won this blue alien balloon thing.

T's Last Day of School

T, you were thrilled for me to come to your class for the last day of school. You loved your teacher. She kept everyone on-task and busy.

Thank you Ms. M.

YW New Beginnings

This year's New Beginnings Theme was "Come unto Christ and be perfected in him."

Kristen Jones found some ideas here.

In church I am a leader to girls age 12-17 and I cannot begin to tell you how much I love and respect these girls!

I mean, wow! Aren't these girls just beautiful?!
I feel so blessed to be able to work with them.
New Beginnings is where we welcome the girls that will be coming into YW this year.

Can you see the diamond rings?
Julia Workman made these delicious cupcakes.
We talked about how the pressures made coal turn into diamonds and how much is trimmed from a regular diamond to get the clearest diamond.   When we come unto Christ it is like we are doing what we can to become the perfect diamond, we trim away what is not great to become better.

You kidlets were running in circles around me.  S, you got the sparkly ribbons that were on the chairs and I still am finding bits of glitter in random things.

Then the gals got little gifts to take home so they could remember the night. I am so grateful for the Gospel.  I am so thankful to know that we have a Heavenly Father that loves us. I am so grateful that we have wonderful people around us that strengthen and help us and that we can strengthen and help others.  These girls see me a lot, but they have little idea that I pray for them very often (honestly, I pray for all those I have been blessed to teach now and in the past) and that I hold them in high esteem.  They are quite inspirational and I love the way they cheer one another on.

You are out of school and we've been running around to all sorts of things.  You've just finished your swimming lessons at the YMCA with your friends.

I may not be posting very often. We're having a great time!

Father's Day Part 2

Just thought I should mention how incredibly blessed we are to have my father and Daddy's father to celebrate on Father's Day and well, probably every day!   These are the men (with their dear wives, our mothers) that taught us how to work, how to cherish one another, how to love and play with our children--you. This is just a quick, but very grateful thank you to them!  You are wonderful!  We are so grateful for you and your great examples!!
